Information we collect
FlowState does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal information. There are no user accounts, no analytics or tracking services, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs that gather data. The app has no backend servers of its own.
What's stored on your device
To do its job, FlowState saves data locally on your iPhone, including your connected-board details, tune configurations and library, ride logs and statistics, GPS route data for rides, any in-app recordings, and your app preferences.
This information stays on your device under your control and is not sent to us. It may be included in your own device backups (for example iCloud or Finder) if you have those enabled — those backups are managed by you and Apple, not by FlowState.
Device permissions
FlowState requests only the permissions it needs, and uses them only as described:
- Bluetooth — to connect to and communicate with your board. This is the core function of the app.
- Location — to record ride routes and to keep trip distance, odometer, and top speed accurate while your phone is locked during a ride. Location is stored on your device for ride maps; an “Obscure Home” option can hide your home area on those maps. Your location is never transmitted to us.
- Camera & Microphone — used only when you start an in-app recording.
- Photos — used only to save recordings you create, if you choose to.
You can grant or deny each permission in iOS Settings. Denying Location or Camera simply disables those features; the rest of the app keeps working.
Purchases
FlowState offers an optional in-app purchase. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store — we never receive or store your payment information. Apple's handling of purchase data is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
Third parties
FlowState does not share data with third parties. The only external party involved is Apple, which processes App Store purchases as described above. Otherwise the app communicates directly with your board over Bluetooth and with no other service.
Data retention and deletion
Because your data lives on your device, you're in control of it. You can reset ride data within the app — for example, long-pressing TRIP on the Dashboard clears the tripometer and ride log — and deleting FlowState from your iPhone removes its locally stored data.
Children's privacy
FlowState is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. As the app collects no personal data at all, this applies to every user.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and revise the effective date shown above. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
